School Workshops involve a weekly after-school session for 4, 5 or 6 consecutive weeks to work on an extended project or kit. Each Workshop involves a kit, which the participants keep at the conclusion of the Workshop.

Workshop themes include:

•Robotics
Ages 8+
Participants build & keep a functioning Robot piece by piece, from the inside out. Kits selected to not require soldering or knowledge of electronics. Each robot can be assembled using a screwdriver and pliers, provided by Pow!Science! Batteries are also included. In addition to building, we also spend time learning about the history and future of robotics & performing other mind-challenging hands-on engineering tasks!
Instructor Fee: $110/week Kit Fee: $9.00~$20.00/participant depending on which Robot you select.
Jungle Robot Doodling Robot

•Chemistry 1
Ages 5-8
Young Chemists will love this Hands ON Chem Lab Workshop. We'll focus on the science of atoms, molecules & polymers while developing basic laboratory skills. Messes may happen (but we clean them up)! Participants use and keep the fantastic 'Diving into Slime' Chemistry Kit from Rhode Island's own Young Scientists Club.

Diving into Polymers

•Chemistry 2
Ages 8+
Participants use a high quality Chemistry Set to perform 30 experiments focusing on acids, bases and simple chemical reactions. Kit includes chemicals, test tubes, goggles, lab manual and more!

Chem C500

•Blasting Off with Volcanoes!
Ages 5-8
Ms. Frizzle, her students and of course your Pow!Science! Instructor take Young Scientists on a wild ride while blasting off with erupting volcanoes. Young Scientists learn about the layers of the Earth, study tectonic plate movement, explore different volcanic shapes and eruptions, make real pumice float, create and test the ultimate “lava” mixture, paint and explode a volcano, and much, much more! This explosive kit includes a colorful poster with volcanic facts, pictures, and stickers. Seatbelts, everyone! Get ready to Blast off with Exploding Volcanoes!

Blasting Off with ERUPTING Volcanoes

•Levers, Gears & Cars *NEW*
Great for Ages 5-8!
Participants use the simple but sophisticated "Cars" kit to explore simple mechanics and physics principles. Each participant will build their own Gear-driven Load Lifter, Tricycle and Car with working steering!

•Buoyancy & Boats *NEW*
Great for Ages 5-7!
Participants use & keep the "Boats" Kit to explore the concept of buoyancy, what factors affect how well (or how poorly) things float and build several kinds of their own seaworthy watercraft!

•Electricity and Magnetism
Great for Ages 5-7! Participants use an easy-to-learn re-usable circuit board kit to construct 100 different circuit configurations! Topics covered include electricity, magnets & electromagnetism, parallel & series circuits and much more.
Instructor Fee: $110/week Kit Fee: $20.00/participant
Snap Circuits

Cost is $110.00 per week for Workshops, plus a kit fee, which varies according to the kit selected for each Workshop. Kit prices range from $12.00 to $25.00 per participant.

Please note that there is no "per participant" fee for our Science Clubs or Workshops, but a flat weekly rate. Advantages of having fewer students include working in smaller groups, more personal attention and greater opportunity for in-depth learning.
