Build a Working RC Car!
This kit is a solid introduction to building that moves your child well beyond the "Lego" stage and into actual engineering.
You'll need a phillips-head screwdriver to put the kit together. Needlenosed pliers are helpful but not critical. The R/C runs at a frequency of 27.9 MHz.
Unfortunately, Amerikit thus far only offers the kit in one frequency, so racing is not possible, as two cars will interfere with each other. There is a cool little light that illuminates the intake manifold when the car is operating.
The instructions come in a thoughtfully laid out "blueprint" style sheet, which can be laid flat out on a table; no flipping through a booklet! This kit is challenging but satisfying. Ages 10+
A bit hefty on the battery requirements, you'll need 4 AAs for the car and a 9V for the remote control (not included).
