Other Great Thames & Kosmos Kits:

Mind's Eye

This kit is intense. 94 Experiments in optics, optical illusion and human perception. It will exhaust, infuriate and exhilarate you. You won't believe your eyes...and you'll learn why you shouldn't. When I did the experiment that enabled me to view the blood vessel pattern on my own retina, it was definitely freaky.

Some of the construction in this kit takes patience--for example, the color mixer is work intensive--but overall I found the results quite worth the effort, as did the kids that participated in the Mind's Eye workshop I conducted.

From Thames & Kosmos: "Find your blind spot and watch things disappear. Use special glasses to detect the errors in a counterfeit bill [Pow!Science interjection: Also very freaky]. Spot the blood vessels in your eye. Make a curved line look straight. Turn cardboard transparent. See the world shrink. Make white by mixing red, green and blue, and see colors in black and white! Learn first-hand how your eye and brain work together to perceive color, light, depth, perspective, size, shape and motion."
